Don’t worry, the HVAC experts here at Gwyn Electrical Plumbing Heating Cooling can troubleshoot your air conditioner to get it back up and running again. Use this air conditioning troubleshooting guide below to help you identify some potential AC problems within your Winston-Salem, NC home.
AC Unit Won’t Blow Cold Air & Isn’t Cooling Enough
If your air conditioner turns on but isn’t blowing cold air, make sure that all of your air vents are open and that your thermostat is set properly. If your air vents and thermostat isn’t the issue, make sure your air filters are clean as well as your AC unit’s air filter. If your filters are clogged with dirt and debris, your HVAC systems airflow will be clogged as well which could explain the lack of cold air. There are a few other things that could be wrong with your air conditioner if it won’t blow cold air but those repairs need to be handled by a HVAC professional.
Air Conditioner is Leaking Water
If you suspect that your AC unit is leaking or if you see a leak, it’s important to get professional help quickly. While it’s normal to see a little bit of water outside under your condenser on hot and humid days, it shouldn’t be excessive. If you see a leak inside, we suggest turning off your AC unit to prevent further damage. Leaks could be from multiple things including a drain pipe blockage, low refrigerant, a broken condensate pan, etc.
Central AC Won’t Turn On
Finally, if your air conditioner won’t turn on, it could be a simple fix. First, make sure your breaker hasn’t been tripped. If it hasn’t be sure to check your thermostat as well to ensure it’s on the correct setting. If those two fixes don’t work, it’s time to call in the HVAC professionals.
